Brought back many happy memories from the years
1979 - 1995 which I spent with the station as the third, and as it turned out, the final Engineer-in-Charge. Sadly peoples names get lost in the mists of time and it's great to have the memories refreshed !

David MatthewsDavid Matthewshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12406027864480178097noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2744024699281834535.post-8359199654914716902023-08-12T19:25:11.162+02:002023-08-12T19:25:11.162+02:00I was amused to find my name in the also ran list....I was amused to find my name in the also ran list. I joined Humberside in 1973 and eventually left in 1981 to take up the post of Senior Trainer in the Local Radio Training Unit in Londn. During my time in Hull, I was the station sports producer working alongside Jim Latham and his team. I then went on to manage the station music output, masterminding a brass band competition that ended each year witha live final in the City Hall in Hull. I produced Peter Adamson's Jazz programme and co presented and produced a weekly classic music disc show that also reviewed the latest equipment. I due course I took over Morningtide and presented the show for a fair while. I was the duty producer on station when Flixborough blew up! I also masterminded the Jubilee visit of Queen Elizabeth 2 in 1977 and was involved in the walkabouts 3 feet behind Her Majesty. I could go on with working with Armold Miller, Robin Pulford and many others, it was a wonderful productive time when local radio did much dreative work.
